Planning ahead
We know that people don’t always think about how their housing needs might change in the future but it pays to plan ahead. Have you thought about whether your current home will be suitable in the next five years or even ten years?
These pages include information about some of the different housing options and support available to help people live well in later life. Remember, planning ahead isn’t always just about getting older – thinking about even small changes to your home will help you better prepare for any future change in your (or someone you live with’s) health or mobility needs, and make your home more accessible for all. Links to organisations that can offer more specialist advice are included at the end.
If you are having problems with your current home or you think you might be at risk of homelessness, you should contact your local council as soon as possible or seek advice from an independent organisation such as Shelter Scotland.
