Barrhead Housing and East Renfrewshire Council are working together to design and build new homes and possible community facilities at Blackburn Square in Barrhead. Partners and the local community are designing the homes to be very energy efficient and to generate so much energy that people living in them will have no or very low heating bills.
Homes will be accessible and flexible so that people can stay there throughout their lives. The building is being planned to encourage social interactions between neighbours and have good outdoor space. We want the homes to support people to have happy healthy lives. Blackburn Square aims to offer a model of homes for life which can be replicated in small brownfield sites nationally.
